With footprints in both industry and academia, Dr. Zhang has shaped his career with multidisciplinary expertise in big data research. He spent six years in industry to R&D high-performance and energy-efficient products. As a senior system architect and team lead, he was responsible for multi-layer co-design of algorithm/software/hardware for advanced computing architectures, resulting in seven commercialized patents.
Dr. Zhang afterwards worked at Harvard to research AI & Wearable Computing Innovations for Big Data-driven Precision Health. He had researched innovative systems, with the goal to capture the biodynamics from human body and then decode the underlying vital patterns.
UbiEi Lab, funded by National Science Foundation and University, is innovatively bridging AI, Edge Computing and Wearable Computers, thereby systematically advancing the research, development, and validation of next-generation big data paradigms. Dr. Zhang just received a 5-year NSF CAREER Award Grant – the NSF’s most prestigious award, to further the big data innovations and practices.
